CHS State carnival will be hosted by MWSA on Feb 23 to 25. We are looking for a few hours of your spare time during the day to help out in the canteen. email chs@mwsa.com.au if you can help.

 

 

Jan 26 - A lot happened over the weekend

NSW u/19's team which included Linley Somerville and Michelle Cox won the Australian Championship.

Michelle won the tournament MVP and Batting awards

Linley was named in the Australian u/19 squad

 

While in Canberra our u/19 Squad won the u/19 title

Still waiting on final placing for all the other teams.

U 12 Maroon team - 4th in the Plate

U 12 Blue team - 2nd in the Plate

 

 

Jan 17 NSW u/19's, which includes Michelle Cox and Linley Somerville, are playing in the Australian Championships at Altona. Keep up to date with all the play by plays.

 

  Jan 17 Congratulations to Danni Murace,  Jordy Christensen and the rest of the NSW u/16 team on winning the Australian Championships.

 

Jan 11 - Between Xmas and New Year the Ruen Hudson canteen was broken into. They used an angle grinder to cut thru the padlock and iron bars - and no-one heard a thing. 

 

The thieves stole our Slushie machine.

Jan 6 Once again Manly Warringah Softball Association will be running the SEA BREEZE Tournament on Sunday 21 February 2010 for Under 10 (Teeball) Girls. We invite you to participate in the tournament by entering club and/or Association teams. Details here.

 

Dec 1 Congratulation to Mel Dwight and Monique Miller on their selection in the NSW Open Women's Team for Round 2 of the Gilleys Shield.

 

Nov 29 Congratulation to Andrew Cocks on being awarded the NSW Umpires Association Encouragement Award

 

Nov 22 - The Manly Eagles are State League runners up . The team went down to Northern Storm 3 to 2 in a close fought final.

 

Congratulations also to Manly Eagles player Georgia Casey on being named the State League MVP -  Georgia comes up well in a Manly uniform.

Nov 14 Manly Warringah is named Softball Australia's Association of the Year.

 

Oct 25 Our u/12's have won the State Championship. Undefeated all weekend the team had a hard fought win over Wagga in the final. Congratulations to all.  Click here for all the results

Oct 2 - Congratulations to the Sydney North PSSA team on winning the NSW PSSA Girls Softball Championships, undefeated. From the Championships Chelsea Godden, Lara Seeto, Alana Wootten, and Jasmin Christensen were selected in the NSW team with Trish Fox selected as the team Manager. Details can be found here

July 26 - Manly's under 16 are the State Champions. In a close match the Manly girls defeated Hornsby 1  0 in the final. 

Earlier in the day the had a 3 - 1 win against the Pool A winner Penrith. Congratulation to the players and staff.

Another Manly Title Win
27/7/2009 - By SC
Manly Warringah Softball have continued their domination of junior female competitions in New South Wales, by winning the 2009 U16 Girl`s State Championship. The maroon and blues proudly boast the fact they now hold every current Junior Female State Championship Title, from U10s to U19s.
Along the road to U16`s victory, Manly were met with some very tough opposition. Hornsby finished ahead in their pool, after downing Manly 7-4. This was backed up with a 4-2 victory over North Shore in the crossover match, to earn their shot at the Title. Manly entered the Final, with a 3-1 victory over Penrith City.
 The Final was a tight affair, with no score recorded until the 6th inning, when Manly`s Courtney Pai, crossed the plate from a Nikki Adams double. Time and game was called and Manly Warringah celebrated their hard fought 1-0 Championship win.

July 12 - The Friendship series starts at SNSW today - 2 Manly girls are playing the the Aussie squad - Linley Sommerville and Michelle Bell, and 4 in the Metro team - Dani Levido, Michelle Cox, Bridget Wilson and Lisa Carlton. Metro play the 2 Aussie squad team on Monday at 9 & 11. The full draw can be found here

Manly's u/19 team has won the State Championship - undefeated all weekend the team recorded a 6 - 0 win against Hornsby in the Final.
Congratulations also to Andrew Cocks who was awarded his level 3 umpires accreditation at the Championships

 

May 31-Waratah League Finals have been Washed Out.

Congratulations to our Manly Eagles - 2009 Waratah League Champions.

 

May 19 Dani Levido has been called up to the Australia School girls team.

 

May 17 Manly's Teeball team has won the State Championship defeating North Shore 18 to 12 in the final. The team went through the entire Championship undefeated - congratulations.

May 7 - Results from the School Sport Australia Softball Championship in Adelaide including the Final series.

NSW win the Championships, defeating Victoria 7 - 0 in the Grand Final. Bridget Wilson, Rachael Ambrose and Lisa Carlton selected in the Australian team.

 

michelle Cox.jpg (32532 bytes) May 5 - Michelle Cox has been selected in  the Aussie Spirit team to participate in the Japan Cup (Tokyo) and exhibition games. The team will land in Tokyo on the 28th July.

 


April 28 - The MWSA AGM was held tonight. Doug Freeman and last years committee were returned with Kim Trim being elected to the vacant position.

 

April 27 - Michelle Cox was named as one of the 6 Australian players in the Southern Cross All Stars team. In the grand final Michelle lead the batting with 3 hits including a home run. Grand final play by play here.

 

April 24  - Sports Leadership Grants and Scholarships for Women- for the next generation of female leaders in sport. 

 

April 13 - The Manly Eagles have won the Waverley u/19 Easter Carnival. The team defeated Canberra 6-5 in a tie breaker final.

 

April 2 - The 2009 U10 Teeball State Tournament has been postponed due to the wet weather and the Hawkesbury grounds being unplayable. The tournament will now be played on May 16 & 17

 

March 28 - The grand finals have been won - results and the 2008-09 Awards are up.

Mar 11 - Michelle Cox has been selected in the the Australian Women`s Team to tour New Zealand. Details here

Mar 1 A big day for are u/10 Representative and Development teams - both respective Divisional Champions. The Representative team was undefeated during the Championship. The Development team performed well against the other Representative teams and defeated the only other development team.

Sept 25 - Congratulations to Mackenzie Little, Kalina Stepto, and Georgia Thomson who have been selected to represent NSW at the Australian PSSA Championships to be held at the NSW Softball Centre, Nov 23-28. 

 

Trish Fox has been selected as the team Manager.

 

Sue Brandenburg's Sydney North side took out this year's Championship, with a decisive win in the Final over Catholic School team, Mackillop, 15-1. The team included Waverly Preece, Jasmin Christensen, Lucy Heyworth and Rachel Holland as well as those selected in the NSW team

Jun 22 Our under 16 team finished 2nd at the divisional championships today. Hornsby defeated our girls in the Final.

Jun 14 - Our u/19's finished 3rd in the State Championships. The team went down to Hornsby in an awesome elimination series game.  Congratulations to Hornsby who defeated North Shore in the final.

Jun 1 - Our Waratah League team finished in 3rd position - Congratulation to Penrith who defeated Southern Angels in the final.

 

May 25 - Our u/19 rep team was 3rd at the Divisional Championship. With Manly, North Shore and Hornsby all even at the end of the competition, run scored against us relegated the team to 3rd position. Final placing  - Hornsby, North Shore, Manly Warringah, Cumberland, Newcastle, and Hawkesbury.

 

May 10 Congratulations to Michelle Cox on her selection in the Australian All Schools team. NSW won the tournament with an awesome unbeaten record for the tournament of 92 runs for and NONE against

April 22 - Meet the 2008 - 2009 committee, elected at last tonight's AGM. 

 

April 15 - The NSW u/23's started today at Blacktown. Lots of Manly players in the team ( Sam Conway (vice Capt), Michelle Edgtton, Kelly McNaughton, Monique Miller, Mikah Van Gogh and Reg Eggleton - Head Coach). The draw can be found here - why not have a day out supporting them.

March 30 - Teeball State Championship - Our Teeball team has finished 2nd at the State Championships, going down by 1 run to winners  Cumberland in the Final. Congratulation to all the players and team management on a great tournament.

Our u/14 team is playing in the "Blacktown International Junior Challenge". After day 1 the team has had wins against the local Associations however the visiting Japanese teams are proving a little tough.

The Development team came in 4th place - after topping their pool (with wins against Campbelltown, North Shore and Macarthur rep teams) the team then were came up against a strong Sutherland team in the cross pool and North Shore in the 3rd place playoff.

Nov 25 Sue Brandenburg receives Top Award !!

PSSA girl's Head Coach, Sue Brandenburg was awarded the highest honour within the School Sport system at the recent School Sport Australia Softball Exchange Dinner.

Congratulations to Sue for receiving a SSA Service Award for her outstanding contribution to both school softball and netball.

Nov 11 - What a weekend - our u/14 team won the State Championships, 3 new level 2 umpires, 4 selected in the NSW State u/19 team, and all made possible by the hugh number of people from all our clubs that volunteered  over the weekend.

Nov 1 North Met Academy trials are being held at St Ives Diamond 1 near the canteen on the Wednesday 14th November 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM

Eligible players are  those that will qualify for NSW Under 16's 2009. Forms and more details here- act now the forms need to be in next week..

Oct 21 - Our u/14 Representative team has won their Divisional Championships - undefeated throughout the Championships the girls played some awesome some Softball. 

 

The Development team were runners-up in their Championships - coming from behind to win a thrilling semi-final the girls went down to Hornsby in the final.

Oct 14 - It just wasn't their day - after being undefeated on the first day the u/12 Representative team played a thrilling draw with Cumberland in their final pool to share the top of the pool table. In the cross pools the team went down to North Shore, the first loss took them out of the finals series. In their last game the girls out played Hornsby. Their final record - 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.  Congratulations to all the players and the coaching staff on a brilliant rep season.

Oct 14 - Results are up - Looks like a good day for the Cancer Council - lot of missing result sheets...

 

Oct 9 Congratulations to Sue Brandenburg (Representative) and Dale Kaimoana (Development ) on their selection as the head coaches for our 2008 u/14 teams.

 

Oct 2 Over the weekend someone broke into the Abbott Rd facility and stole our ride-on mower. They knew exactly what they were after and exactly where the mower was kept as nothing else was taken or even moved around. Any information would be greatly appreciated. 

 

Sept 23 A big day for our Modball representative and developments. Both teams won their respective Seabreeze Tournaments Final Placing's - 

Representative Teams : Many Warringah, North Shore, Sutherland, Penrith and Hornsby

Development Teams :Manly Warringah, Hornsby, Penrith, and North Shore

 

Sept 20 Manly Drug Education Centre are running another series of "Parents Prepared - Lets talk about drugs" invitation and an information brochure here.

 

Sept 18 - Pink Ribbon Day ribbons wristband etc will be on sale from this Saturday. If you write your team name on the cardboard backing for any item purchase at the grounds and include it with your result sheet you will get "special consideration" on your next scoring sheet error. Cheap insurance as items start at $3.  

 

Sept 17 - The MWSA rule book has made in to the WEB

 

Results are upA disappointing day for the Cancer Council - only 2 score sheet warnings handed out.  With 53 teams having warnings a donation can't be far away.

 

Sept 16 Softball NSW has just released their 2008 calendar - Our 3 state championship winning teams are featured (along with a bunch of individuals) Feb features our u/14 team, March - our teeball team, October our Modball team. A really great looking calendar - they will be available from the Abbott Rd canteen this Saturday.

 

Sept 9 - Almost half the team have used their Score Sheet warning in Round 1 - looks like a bumper year for Cancer Council Donations. See how your team is going

Sept 3 Our Modball Representative team finish 3rd in the Divisional Championship. The development team finished 2nd in the Developing teams Tournament. Great effort by all the players in both teams.

 

August 30 - Charlee South is in the USA - follow her travels.

 

August 28 - Last weekend our u/12 Rep and Dev teams competed in the Ghosts Tournament. 

The Dev team came away with the Silver medal from Pool B. The Rep team finished 3rd in Pool A.

All account say that both team performed extremely well.

August 27 The draw for the Open State Championship and State League have been released

 

August 26 - Manly Warringah's u/14 team has won Seabreeze. Undefeated throughout the day the Manly team defeated Hornsby 10 - 3 in the final.

May 27 Manly's u/19 team were runners-up to North Shore at the Divisional Championships.

 

May 20 - Congratulations our u/16 Representative team on finishing 3rd at the State Championships. The girls finished equal top of the preliminary table with Hornsby progressed to the Championship game on a better against rate. 

In the final Hornsby defeated North Shore 15 to 6. 

 

May 16 - Sharon O'Mara ( U/19 and Open women's assistant coach) and Chris Clough( Open women's administrator) have been appointed to the 2008 NSW teams - Congratulations.

 

May 13 - NSW are the 2007 Australian School Sport Champions. Congratulations to Michelle Cox, Laura Giblett, Monique Miller, and Kaia Parnaby who were named in the Australian All Schools Team that will compete in the International Challenge Series at BOP from July 5 - 8

 

 

April 29 - Our teeball team are State Champions. The girls were undefeated over the weekend. In a great final they defeated Cumberland 21 - 15. Congratulations to the girls and staff.

Manly's Modball team wins the State Championship. In an awesome display the team went through the 2 day event winning every game. In the final the girls defeated North Shore 8 - 1. Congratulation to all the players and staff

Oct 8 The Opens team finished 6th in the State Championships. Just wasn't their weekend. Photo's can be found here

Oct 3 - Manly girls selected in the Sydney North PSSA team - Nicole Adam, Caitlin Bell, Melissa Bell, Cassie Blom, Jordyn Christensen, Danni Murace, and Ella Owens. Jess Rooke has been selected as the team's umpire. Sue Brandenburg and Trish Fox as the coaches.

 

Oct 2 - Manly's State League takes 3rd place. In the preliminary final Manly defeated Bandits 7 - 0. PA010268.jpg (180122 bytes) On to the finals where the girls took an early lead, however Sharks came back to win the final 6 - 3. Great softball by everyone.

 

Sept 24 Another big weekend for our Rep teams. 

On Saturday the Waratah League team took out 3rd place.

On Sunday the modball Rep team narrowly defeated North Shore to win the Seabreeze Cup, while the Development team defeated Cumberland Nepean to take out the plate.

The U/14 Representative and Development teams were also in action at the Ghost's tournament. The Representative team defeated North Shore to take 3rd place, while the Development team defeated Hornsby Development team in the dying second to win the Development section.

 

Final placings in the Seabreeze Modball tournament:

Sept 11 - The Pitchers and Catchers Clinic starts this Saturday (16th) - first session 7:30 to 8:30 and again from 8:30 to 9:30 - everyone welcome. Meet behind diamond 3

U/14 Seabreeze - A very successful tournament with Hornsby defeating our girls in a great final. The final placing were:

Waratah League - our Waratah League team continued their great form with 4 wins over the weekend. The team has finished 2nd in the rounds and heads for the finals on Sept 23rd.

NSW FINALISTS include:

Manly Warringah for "Australian Local Softball Association of the Year"

Kaia Parnaby for "Young Female Softballer of the Year"

 

August 20 - State League: 

Manly Eagles have a solid start to the State League season in our first game we played Mounties and had a commanding 19-0 win with Beck Archer and Sam Conway both hitting in the park homeruns.

Game 2 was against Hills the defending champions, even with 2 of there Australian players out they still had a formidable line up with 2 Olympic silver medallists in the team, our first innings was a little ordinary with 2 errors allowing 2 runs, we battled hard for all of the game going into the bottom of the 7th down 6-4 we loaded the bases and scored 1 run before the 3rd out and going down 6-5 in a very good all round team performance

August 20 Manly's u/12 representative team has taken 2nd place at the Divisional Championships. The team won 4 games and lost 5 to 4  to North Shore, the Divisional Champions.

 

The Manly Development Team won the Divisional Development Championship, winning all three games.

 

August 19 - The Manly team for the State Cups has been announced.

 

 

August 18 The draw for Opens State Cup has been released - the new draw has been released

 

August 17 - Change in dates for Modball Seabreeze - now Sept 24

 

 

August 14 - In the first weekend of Waratah League the Manly team came away with 4 wins from 4 games. The results for all the games can be found here. Next Saturday Manly takes on the only other undefeated team, Hills.

 

A little further south the modball representative and development teams were playing in the Ghosts Classic.  

 

Details are a little light - 

 

The representative team defeated North Shore in the final.

 

The development team won their pool then found the top of the pools play off a little more challenging.

 

August 14 Manly to host the 2007 under 14 State Championships.  

 

August 2 - Last weekend 4 teams travelled to Georges River to compete in the Illawong tournament.   There was some great softball by all the teams.

 

The u/14 blue and maroon teams met in the semi final with the Blue team winning a very close game. In the final the Blue team went down to Hornsby. 

 

Both modball teams had 3 wins and 1 loss. A great start to the championship campaign

 

 

 July 25 - Congratulation to the Manly u/19's that have made it into the State squad: Nikki DEEGENAARS, Monique FAUL, Ksenya GATTI, Laura GIBLETT, Sam HARDWICK, Monique MILLER, Kaia PARNABY, Charlee SOUTH.

July 16 - Manly's u/19 team has taken 2nd place in a thrilling final of the State Championship. Playing Cumberland, the final game was 0 - 0 after 7 innings. It took another  2 tie-break inning before Cumberland took a 3 - 1 lead to win. Congratulations to both team on a very close final.

May 21 The Manly U/16 team has taken 2nd place at the State Championships. The Manly girls were defeated by Georges River in the final. Congratulation to all the girls and the coaching staff on a very successful campaign.

 

 

May 1 Kaia Parnaby has been selected in AIS Women's Squad for 2006/07.  The full squad can be found here. Congratulations.

April 27 The committee for our 2006 - 2007 season was elected at the AGM. Click here for the committee members. Ross Giblett is the new President.

 

April 9 - Manly's under 16s have won the Ghosts Tournament defeating Georges River 10 - 5 in the final.

 

The u/19's came in 3rd at the Divisional championships. From all accounts it was a very close Championship, our girls lost by 1 run to Cumberland and drew 0 - 0 with North Shore. North Shore won the Championship defeating Cumberland.

 

 

Apr 3 Tball Dev.JPG (1121844 bytes)Manly's Teeball development team heading for the State Championships in a couple of weeks. They have put in the hard work , winning the Divisional Championship for Development teams and a 3rd at both Hornsby and Georges River Carnivals.

 

Apr 2 Congratulations to Manly's u/16 representative team and officials on winning the 2006 Divisional Championships. Manly defeated North Shore 4 - 0 in the final. Hornsby defeated Cumberland in the 3rd and 4th playoff.

 

A little south the Manly Teeball team won 000_0016.jpg (930836 bytes) the Georges River "River Rats" tournament, with the development team coming 3rd (not bad considering all the other team were rep teams). The rep team was undefeated on the day. 

 

 

Mar 26 - Grand Final Results and 2006 Awards are up.

 

 

Mar 21 Congratulations to Monique Miller, Kaia Parnaby and Nikki Deegenaars on their selection in the NSW All Schools team for the 2006 School Australian National Championship. 

 

Jess Rooke was selected as the NSW umpire to accompany the team.

 

Nikki has also been selected in the Australian U/19 squad to play in GP3 - April 14 to 17, along with Sharon O'Mara (assistant coach) and Chris Clough (manager).

 

Mar 12 - Divisional Teeball Championships - 

 

The Representative team finished the Divisional Championships in a 3 way tie with Cumberland and Hornsby. Each team won 2 games and lost 1 game. The Manly girls were relegated to 3rd place on runs scored against them. Cumberland had the least run against and were declared Divisional Champions.

 

In the Development team championship the Manly development team were undefeated, winning all 3 games. Below is the Development team  - Divisional Champions

Mar 5 - Cumberland Teeball has won the Warringah Council Centenary Seabreeze Tournament defeating the Manly Representative team in the final. The two team were undefeated coming into the final game.

 

Manly's Development team came in sixth place, having a mixed day.

Feb 13 Congratulations to Laura Giblett and Monique Faul who has been selected in the Australia Youth Development Squad to play in the Friendship series later this year.

 

 

Feb 5 - Our Teeball Rep team has taken out the Hornsby Sapling tournament. The development team came in a very creditable 3rd, against a string of other rep teams.

Jan 19 Congratulation to Nikki Deegenaars, Monique Miller, and Kaia Parnaby, three of the nine NSW athletes that have been named in the Australian U19 Women's team to compete at Grand Prix 2 in Melbourne next month.

This team will compete against domestic state academy teams and the Japan U19 Women's Squad.

Nov 13 A new Level 2 umpire. Jess1.jpg (28705 bytes) Jess Rooke successfully passed her level 2 practical exam at the u/14 championships to be become Manly's first junior to attain level 2.

 

Nov 13 Manly's u/14 win the State Championship. Taking the final in a tie-breaker the Manly girls won their 4 straight title.

Oct 23    OZPitch ( a fun game somewhere between fast pitch and slow pitch) on Friday Nights - Mixed team of equal number of males and females( 10 or 12 to a team). All players must be over 18 - no exceptions. Games at 6 and 7:30. BBQ and refreshments will be available. Interested then email OZPITCH@mwsa.com.au - be quick as we plan on starting in a couple of weeks and we can only accommodate 8 teams.

 The Sydney North PSSA side wins the PSSA Girls’ Inter-Regional Tournament - the team was coached by Sue B. and had 6 Manly girls in it -

Oct 3 Manly's Open team finished 6th in the State Championships. Congratulations to Cumberland Nepean who defeated North Shore in the final.

 

Sept 25 - A big weekend for the Manly girls:

 

** Our Modball representative team finished 3rd in the State Championships. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff of a terrific tournament. The team only lost 1 game over the weekend.

 

** Our Modball Development team won the Developing teams Plate. The team was undefeated all weekend. Definite stars of the future - congratulations to all the players and coaching staff.

 

** Five Manly girls  have been selected in the NSW State U/16 team. Congratulations to  

Annika Cripps, Nikki Deegenaars (Captain), 

Ksenya Gatti, Laura Giblett, and  Kaia Parnaby

April 23 - Our Teeball team has finished the State Tournament with a 8 wins and 1 loss record - definite champions of the future. Sharing the honours for the weekend with the same results was North Shore. The Unofficial placing can be found here.

 

April 17 Our u/19 side finished 3rd at the Divisional Championships. With wins against Central Coast and Hornsby, a loss to North Shore ( 2nd) and a draw with the winners Cumberland the girls now have to play in the Qualifiers (May 7 & 8) at make it to the State Championships.

April 10 Manly Warringah's Under 16 team has won the Divisional Championships. Undefeated all day the Manly girls defeated North Shore in the final game 7 - 3.

Nov 7 - Manly's under 14 Representative team have won the  State Championship. Undefeated over the championships the team defeated North Shore 10 - 1 in the final. A great team effort.

Oct 17 Manly's u/14 Representative team defeated North Shore 8 to 6 to win the Northern Metropolitan Divisional Championship.

Congratulations to Hornsby in winning their first State Championship. Hornsby defeated North Shore 9 - 2 in the final..

August 12 - Another record number of team have entered the summer competition. Both the senior and junior competitions have grown for the 6 successive season. There are a few places still available but you need to register quickly or you may miss out.

July 19 - Manly's Under 19 have won the State Championship. In a great final that went into an extra innings the Manly Girls defeated Campbelltown 1 - 0. Nil all after 7 innings, Campbelltown first 3 batters were retired in the top of the 8th innings. Sam Conway was placed on 2nd base, Danny Firth bunted to move Sam to 3rd, then Kelly McNaughton hit to centre field to bring Sam home. A real team effort over the weekend - congratulations to the team and coaching staff.

July 8 A few stats from out WEB site -

    Over the past 12 months we have had over 1 million hits on our site. The most hits were during Feb and March -about 150,000 hits each month

July 7 A last some new photos - our under 16 at the State Championships

31 May - Our u/16 team was placed 3rd at the State Championships. The girls finished top of their pool but lost their cross pool game to Sutherland. In the play off for 3rd and 4th Manly defeated Georges River. In the Championship final North Shore defeated Sutherland.

The girls played some magnificent softball, with the best defensive record of any team.  

23 May - Congratulations to Sharon O'Mara, Chris Clough and Bec Archer on their appointment as officials  to the NSW U/16 women's team.

28 April - The committee for our 2004 - 2005 season was elected at the AGM. Click here for the committee members

25 April - Manly's Tee Ball team win the State Tournament. 

In a thrilling finish to the rounds the only two undefeated teams,  Manly and North Shore, played the most exciting game of the tournament. Leading at each innings Manly won the game 11 to 10, in 5 innings. Congratulations to the players of both teams, a great game.

4 April Congratulations to the NSW under 23 team on winning the Australian Championship. Manly was well represented in the team with Reg Eggleton  (head coach), Ron Delaney (assistant coach), Rochelle Sangster (vice captain) and Sam Conway.
